At our Yorkshire Prep School, children receive a variety of educational experiences, allowing them to develop as well-rounded, enthusiastic and interested individuals.
We cover all aspects of the National Curriculum and, in addition, offer a wide range of subjects taught by specialist teachers. They include PE, Music, Drama and Spanish and, for older children, Food Technology.
Class sizes are small with no teaching group larger than 20 pupils.
We pride ourselves on the quality of pastoral care. We believe that young children learn best in an atmosphere of co-operation and enjoyment of learning and that this can only be achieved where each person is valued as an individual and is able to develop confidence in their own ideas, abilities and interests. Our school provides an environment that is nurturing and supportive.
The House system places children in Crowther (blue) or Ramsden (red) and is well embedded. Events include a weekly celebratory assembly based on the merits collected by every member of Prep School and a range of sporting and Inter-House competitions.
We track pupil progress carefully, starting with a baseline assessment for each child at the beginning of the year. Assessments are completed each half-term to identify attainment and progress for each child with key development areas shared and communicated home. Parents receive a form of report every half-term to reassure them of how their child is progressing. This is also supported by our open-door policy, with many lines of communication with the teacher available including via email.
