During this period of online learning, we are keen to ensure that pupils receive as broad an experience as ever, whilst accepting that this will look and feel a little different at this time.
Given the requirement for some screen time, we would thus warmly encourage our pupils to build time into each day for fresh air, exercise and other enriching activities. These will be led by both Form Teachers/Tutors, music and PE staff.
Games and PE Activities
During the Summer Term, our committed Games and PE staff will work with pupils to complete their recommended daily exercise time as well as imparting a greater knowledge and understanding of the importance of sport to ensuring physical and mental wellbeing.
The Cognita Home Games
In the absence of the 2020 Olympic Games, The Cognita Home Games has been a great way of connecting, competing and celebrating through physical endeavour.
Joining a host of our sister schools in daily fitness and skill events, the Home Olympics has been a fun opportunity for our pupils to represent themselves, Huddersfield Grammar School and their countries with passion and pride, whilst enjoying the way in which sport can bring our global community together to be happier and healthier.
Please be reminded that peripatetic instrumental lessons are continuing online during this period. As highlighted in a recent edition of HGS Connect, our peripatetic instrumental teachers are setting up ‘live’ lessons through Teams with their pupils and we ask for an adult to be present for safeguarding reasons.
Plans are also afoot for a Virtual Choir to be set up in the Prep and Senior Schools. Further details will follow soon.
