Communicating with HGS Staff
Throughout this period, our staff are upholding their usual schedule of weekly internal meetings via the use of Microsoft Teams. For example, all colleagues meet with the Headmaster for a weekly briefing on Monday afternoons, the Senior Leadership Team meets each Tuesday and our pastoral and academic departments are continuing to interact frequently via conference call to discuss the progress of both individuals and groups of pupils.
As ever, teaching staff will endeavour to respond to emails from parents sent as soon as possible within standard school hours. Please do remain conscious that our teachers will not be able to respond to emails immediately when they are teaching classes online.
We will continue to share important messages, notices and updates via HGS Connect, which is being shared with parents each Monday throughout this period of national lockdown.
If you are happy for your child’s photo to appear on our website or Facebook page, please do send any pictures of their engagement in online learning to Miss Thompson in the School Office, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Special Educational Needs
Where pupils typically access one-to-one or small group support via the SEN Department, parents will be contacted directly if their child is to be supported during an online lesson. Support will be offered through the platform Microsoft Teams, as appropriate, and this will be built into their working week.
Further, members of our SEN Department will join online learning sessions via Microsoft Teams in order to provide suitable support for pupils with special educational needs.
Events and Activities
We will not be printing a physical calendar for the Summer Term but will be communicating all events and activities on our website and within the HGS Connect e-newsletter.
Some of the event highlights that we have to look forward to will include:
- The Home Olympics event
- Online music collaborations and performances
- Parent Webinars on online learning and wellbeing
